One of the most important cultural events in the region and in the world with almost thirty-eight years of tradition, enjoying unflagging popularity, hosting over a thousand singers from different countries and several hundred guests who come down to listen to the beauty of Christian music - this is the Hajnówka Days of Music Festival Orthodox Church. The numbers, however, lose their significance in relation to the character of the undertaking - it is primarily a celebration of Christian music that has become a permanent part of the cultural calendar of the region. Its overarching goals are to popularize the values of the spiritual and musical heritage of the Orthodox Church,
From 06 to 11 May this year. will take place XXXVIII edition of the Hajnówka Days of Orthodox Music. Participation in the event is a great opportunity to listen to the beauty of the choral songs performed by the best choirs. The palette of sounds is very rich - the choirs present a secular, national and folklore repertoire. This year, Hajnówka will host choirs including from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Latvia, Poland, Montenegro, Finland, Northern Macedonia, Germany and Serbia. Each of them presents Christian music in a unique arrangement, because it is flavored with a pinch of the culture of a given country. For almost a whole week, the echo of the religious song will resound throughout the whole region of the Białowieża Primeval Forest.
Traditionally, the program of the Festival begins with the inauguration concert - the last laureate of the Metropolitan Choir Alma Ata from Kazakhstan will perform and ends with two Gala concerts: in Hajnówka and in Białystok in the Hagia Sophia. Between these two big concerts at the Holy Council The Trinity takes place in competition auditions. The performances of individual choirs are evaluated by an international jury composed of outstanding choralists and church musicians.
Performances of choirs during competition auditions or concerts take place with the participation of the public. Participation in the Festival is a real treat for fans of Christian music but above all an opportunity to learn about the culture of other countries and become part of one of the most important cultural events in the world. It is an event that shows that culture is able to erase thousands of kilometers of space, while national and ethnic origin ceases to matter.
