The Białowieża Transborder Trail is a well-marked network of forest, gravel and asphalt roads extending on both sides of the border. This is a unique route - it combines the beauty of nature, historical monuments and the multicultural character of the region, which is reminded by the close proximity of Orthodox and Catholic temples and the unique architecture of wooden houses. On the Polish side, the trail leads through old, charming towns set against the Bialowieza Forest - a unique forest in terms of nature, because it is the last bastion of the original fragments of forests that once covered these areas. The Bialowieza Forest stretches on both sides of the border. It is an area recognized by UNESCO as a Polish - Belarusian cross-border object of the World Heritage of Humanity. As the Bialowieza forest complex is extremely valuable, has been protected: on the Polish side, the most valuable natural areas are protected by the oldest national park in Poland - the Białowieża National Park, while in Belarus, the whole area of the forest has been protected by the Belovezskaya puscha National Park. The trail goes through the Hajnówka poviat (Republic of Poland) and the Prużany region (Republic of Belarus); The "Polish" episode ends at the border crossing of Białowieża - Piererow. To cross the Polish-Belarusian border you must have a passport, insurance and visa authorizing you to enter the Republic of Belarus. For border crossing requirements, please contact: the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Warsaw or a consular post in Bialystok, Gdansk or Biała Podlaska (contact at http://poland.mfa.gov.by/). A visit to our eastern neighbors will not disappoint anyone. The beauty of architectural monuments, monumental temples, untouched nature and hospitality at Dziadek Mroz are just some of the acacias waiting on the trail.
