BIAŁOWIEŻA – kościół p.w. Św. Teresy z 1927 r. z kaplicą Św. Huberta
BIAŁOWIEŻA - the church of Saint. Teresa from 1927 with the chapel of Saint. Hubert (beautiful decor using roots and horns).
The parish was founded on August 15, 1926 by Bishop Kazimierz Michalkiewicz, vicar of the Capuchin Archdiocese of Vilnius, sede vacante.
Białowieża in the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries belonged to the parish in Kamieniec Litewski. When the pastoral center in Narewka was established in 1778 as a branch of the Narew parish, Białowieża was served by a clergyman from the branch church. After taking the church in Narewka to the church in 1866 as part of the tsarist repression for participation in the November Uprising, Białowieża was incorporated into the parish in Szereszewo. Only after Poland regained its independence did the conditions exist for the creation of a parish here. Its first priest (from 1924) and the organizer was priest. Józef Dowgiłło. The services were celebrated first in the chapel, arranged in the former tsar's palace. The construction of the church in the style of the Polish neo-renaissance began in 1927 according to the design of architect Borys Zinserling from Warsaw. The unfinished church was consecrated on October 15, 1934 by Archbishop Romuald Jałbrzykowski, Metropolitan of Vilnius. There were no funds for further construction works, especially since after the Second World War the majority of the parish was within the borders of the USSR. It was not until the 1970s that the finishing and renovation works were resumed, altars and confessionals made of tree trunks and branches of trees were placed. In 2007, 17-voice organs were installed. Most of the paintings are the work of Łucja Bałzukiewiczówna.
